GUIDE TO UI-VIEW32 SETUP FOR RF BASE STATIONS:

(IMPORTANT NOTE: Everytime you open a setup menu, you will be met with a help screen. Close it and open the same menu again. If you need the help later, open the setup menu and hit your "F1" key.)

To use UI-View32, you will need to have registered it, and received your "Server Validation Number" (all one process).

Please refer to the screen shots for help on setup.

Do only the things in RED text.
Enter you call. (You can enter an SSID with it, see APRS SSID .)
Enter your latitude and longitude. (The "Locator" will come up automaticly after you enter lat and lon.)
Enter your comment...something like "Bubba's APRS Station, Podunk, USA".
Set the Beacon interval for Fixed to "30".
Select a Symbol. Most use either the "Home" symbol.

Go to "Setup" and "Status Text". Enter anything you want in the box. Mine says "...Jus' sitin' 'round!". You can put "walkin' the dog" , "In the bathroom" whatever.

Now, go to "Setup", "Comms Setup". (This is where it gets tricky. You need to have read your manual(s) on your TNC.)

First, we will try to set up in KISS mode. If this works, use it!

Setup your comport settings, pictured in the red box at the top. I try to use 4800,8,1,None no matter what. Select the COM posrt your TNC is hooked to.

Select KISS and hit "Setup" beside it.

Select one of the TNC's in the Easy Setup.
"TNC2" is a "universal" setting that should work with TNC's built under TNC2 specs.
"Kan" is for Kantronics TNC's.
"PK" is for AEA or Timewave "PKxxxxx" TNC's.
"D700" is for Kenwood D700's.
I'm not sure what the "TF" is for, if someone knows, let me know and I'll add it.

The "other" way to setup the comms is the "hard" way. Bsic info is shown below. You will need to use you TNC manuals and the help menu (F1) in the UI-View32 software.

Setup the Comport settings to the parameters above, and select the comport your TNC is hooked to.
Select what matches your TNC best in the TNC Type box.
Cross your fingers and hope!
