Jo Frances Arrowood Melton, 85, of Athens, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Wellington Place of Athens.


She was a native and resident of McMinn County for most of her life. A daughter of the late Charles W. and Ira Beulah Richeson Arrowood, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Leroy \"Roy\" Melton, on Jan. 15, 2010; one daughter, Sonja Jo Melton, on Dec. 10, 1978; two brothers, Jack W. Arrowood and Robert Arrowood; and one infant sister, Dolly Fay Arrowood. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.


Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald A. and Liz Melton of Athens, and Ronald L. Melton of Niota; two grandchildren, Veronica and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles Willard and Elizabeth Arrowood, both of Cartersville, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Carlos Hammonds of Athens, and Judy and Jim Bridges of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.


Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Bob Thomas officiating.


There will be no formal visitation.
