Walter E. Moses Jr. (Gene), 77, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, surround by loving family.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 49 years, Emma Sue Jordan Moses of Jacksboro; and parents, Walter and Blanche Moses of Athens.
He is survived by son, Walter Moses III (Bud) and Oksana Moses of Knoxville; son, Charles Lee Moses of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Sarah Grace, Zachary, Eli, and Emma; and several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gene found his faith in the Lord at First Baptist Church of Athens, and looked to the Lord for strength until the day he died. He looked forward to reunion with his wife, family, and friends in Heaven. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he always fondly remembered his time there as a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Gene was an avid Ham Radio operator, received his amateur license at 16 years of age and held the call W4UVR for 61 years. He was retired from the labor relations team at ALCOA Aluminum and had many friends at the company and in the union.
Gene's family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
Family and friends will gather at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens on Tuesday, April 29, at 12:45 p.m. for a 1 p.m. graveside service with the Rev. Paul McKeehan officiating.
