Jim Black, WA4YTU / SK

James Esley Black, WA4YTU, 85, of Athens, died Friday morning, July 12, 2013, at NHC Health Care of Athens.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Merritt and Mollie Crush Black, and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed building and selling Ham radios. He was the owner and operator of Spurling Fire Alarms for many years. He was preceded in death by one son, Jim C. Black, in 2006.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Glenna Burke Black of Athens; one sister and brother-in-law, Carlon and Emmitt Morgan; his loving daughter-in-law, Helen Black of Athens; one special granddaughter and her husband, Robin and Tony Garrett of Madisonville; one great-grandson, Blake Garrett of Madisonville; and one brother-in-law and his wife, Jimmy Don and Dodie Burke of Athens.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
