Larry Lee Larson, 71, of Etowah, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at a local hospital.

A native of Connersville, Ind., Larry had lived in several different places before spending the last 22 years in the McMinn and Polk area. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a very active member of Delano Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and chairman of deacons. He and his wife owned and operated the Cherokee Inn in Greasy Creek for around 15 years. He enjoyed HAM (amateur) radio and spending time outdoors, gardening, and with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wynetta Smullen Larson; and a sister, Jackie Myers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lorene Davis Larson; children, Doug Larson and wife, Angie, of Reliance, Cyndi Lanier and husband, Kevin, of Westport, Wash., and Eric Larson of Largo, Fla.; grandchildren, Kristin Kozinski and husband, Cameron, of Atlanta, and Zachary Donald and Matthew Donald of Stuart, Fla.; great-grandson, Brady Kozinski of Atlanta; and sister, Emma Faye Ingram of Indiana. Several other extended family members and friends also survive.

A celebration of Larry's life will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Dr. John Powers officiating.
Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
